Middle House Science Fair

On Friday, February 18, 2011, the Lincoln MultiAge (LMA) Middle House hosted its Annual Science Fair. Students in 2nd and 3rd grades created a variety of displays on their teacher approved subject. Displays included the properties of wind, static electricity, the digestive system, animals, robotics, the Solar System, volcanoes and many more.

The idea behind the Science Fair is to continue the philosophy of LMA which is one of creating a hypothesis, and then having the students determine if that hypothesis was correct. This philosophy follows the daily routine of Plan-Do-Review that students implement throughout their time at LMA. The students plan the project, do the project then review the project, and in this case, review and present the project to their fellow classmates as well as other LMA students, staff and visitors. It is a great opportunity for students to be excited about learning.

Lincoln MultiAge is an intra-district School of Choice in the Lincoln Consolidated School District whose mission is to provide students with a continually progressing education in a multi-age community of learners. Students are organized in three houses: The Lower House (grades K-1), the Middle House (grades 2-3) and the Upper House (grades 4-5). Utilizing the High/Scope teaching method in the classroom, and encouraging parental involvement in a variety of school activities as well in the classroom provides an active learning environment for those students in Lincoln MultiAge.
